HUBUNGAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR DAN PRESTASI BELAJAR MATEMATIKA SISWA SMP NEGERI 3 TONDANO

This study aims to determine the relationship between learning motivation and mathematics learning achievement of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Tondano. The study used a quantitative approach with an ex post facto correlational design. The research subjects were 40 eighth-grade students (Class VIII-A: 19 students and VIII-B: 21 students), selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert scale learning motivation questionnaire consisting of 25 statements based on 6 indicators by Uno (2023), and learning achievement data were obtained from the first semester final examination scores. The instrument was validated using Pearson Product Moment correlation (rtable = 0.312) and reliability was tested using Alpha Cronbach, resulting in 22 of 25 items being declared valid and reliable (α = 0.874). Data analysis used Pearson Product Moment correlation with SPSS 25, preceded by normality (Kolmogorov-Smirnov) and linearity prerequisite tests. The prerequisite test results showed that the data of both variables were normally distributed (sig. = 0.200 > 0.05, so H0 is accepted) and there was a linear relationship between the two variables (sig. deviation from linearity = 0.337 > 0.05). The correlation analysis result showed r = 0.727 with significance 0.000 (< 0.05) and tcount = 5.289 > ttable = 1.686. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 52.97%, indicating that learning motivation contributes to mathematics learning achievement. It is concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and mathematics learning achievement of students at SMP Negeri 3 Tondano, in the strong category.
